Crochet Your Calm: Brain Fidget, Ergonomics & Mindful Making
This workshop invites you to experience crochet as more than a craft—as a supportive, creative practice for mind–body wellness. Whether you’re brand new or returning to the basics, this session blends foundational skill-building with practical tools for comfort, focus, and regulation.
We’ll begin with an introduction to core crochet techniques, giving you the skills to create simple, repetitive stitches that naturally lend themselves to a calming, rhythmic flow. From there, we’ll make our crochet brain fidget.
Participants will also learn ergonomic strategies to care for your hands, wrists, shoulders, and posture, helping you build a sustainable and comfortable creative practice over time. Throughout the workshop, we’ll connect these elements to mindfulness—paying attention to sensation, repetition, and breath as a way to settle the nervous system and stay present.
In this workshop, you’ll:
Learn the basics of crochet stitches and techniques
Practice ergonomic approaches to reduce strain and fatigue
Understand how fiber arts can support mindfulness and regulation
Leave with a unique crochet brain that doubles as a fidget, a hook and a skein of yarn
Come as you are—no prior experience needed.
Ages 12+ welcome with a caregiver or parent.
